Thanksgiving and Snow/Erntedankfest und Schnee

I'm back here in this blogging world after taking a break from the computer for almost a week. It was good to focus on domestic tasks for a while. We had a simple but satisfying Thanksgiving with rabbit stew (stewed in red wine with prunes and cranberries), brown rice, green beans, and apple, pear, and blueberry crisp for dessert. Of course there was also pumpkin pie.

We managed to get most of the leaves raked and some shrubs cut back before an early winterstorm hit and brought us lots of snow. Now we have to find new winter boots for a few children. Too bad that feet tend to grow every year.

We are also back to regular lessons. Everybody was eager to start again this morning.

Wir machen auch wieder richtigen Unterricht. Alle waren heute morgen wieder mit Feuereifer dabei.

    1. Thanks, Angela. It's so true about going back to a predictable routine. Everything goes much more smoothly, doesn't it? Sometimes breaks are more exhausting than lessons. That's especially true for longer breaks, like summer breaks, I have discovered.

  3. That stew sounds very intriguing. And yes, what is it with these mischievous feet that won't stop growing? I have two pairs of those in this house!

    1. Thanks, Lucy. We wanted something different for Thanksgiving. This was a local rabbit and so we thought that that wasn't so much different from what the first pilgrims might have eaten.

My oldest has reached my shoe size now. That is so hard to believe, but of course, his feet are still growing. His feet are not growing from one size to the next, but he seems to be skipping sizes. I always try to buy shoes that girls and boys can wear, but when they get older that is not really possible anymore, especially here where clothing and shoes are very gender specific.
