Stations of the Cross/Kreuzwegstationen

'Christ Bearing the Cross, with a Dominican Friar', tempera on panel painting by Barna da Siena , 1330-1350, Frick Collection

Most Catholic churches around here offer the Stations of the Cross on Fridays during Lent.  Tonight Jonathan, Charlotte, and I went to pray them in a nearby church.  Father had incense burning during the prayer and had lit many candles.  It was a beautiful and peaceful hour.  Charlotte was very impressed by the beauty of it.  We prayed a version based on the Stations by Alphonsus Liguori's Way of the Cross.  If you are interested in printing out your own Montessori version of the Stations, go to That Resource Site here.

  5. My husband is a Lutheran, Missouri Synod. He also has some dear memories of Lent in his church. A friend of mine here also grew up on Long Island in the Lutheran church, but I don't know where. If you are interested I can e-mail you her name.
