Pumpkins/Kürbisse

Today after church we went to a local farmer who sells pumpkins.  Jonathan already had his huge pumpkin,  but all the others wanted one too.  We picked some out, looked at all the other kinds of pumpkins, and went home.  At home the children carved some pretty jack-o-lanterns.

GeorgieRip Van Winkle (Books of Wonder)The Legend of Sleepy HollowAs I mentioned yesterday, we have been reading several ghost stories.  Two are stories from New York by Washington Irving: The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Rip Van Winkle.  Two other ones are The Ghost of Nicholas Greebe and Georgie

Die anderen beiden Bücher spielen in Neuengland: The Ghost of Nicholas Greebe und Georgie.

  2. Lovely pictures and a cheery way to celebrate the feast!

We've yet to finish carving our pumpkin, hoping to have it lit at our tea table tonight.

I bought treats in case we were visited by hordes of dressed up kiddies, but in the end we were only had one lot of visitors. Good job the treats have a long expiry date!!

Blessings to you all on Saints Day
    San xx

  3. Thank your Dorina. I just looked at your Halloween pictures -- we don't have anything like that around here. We only had a few children come to our door and most houses in our neighborhood turn off their lights for Halloween. Jonathan had a costume and went trick-or-treating when he was really little, but it feels kind of out of the order around here.

  4. San, wishing you a happy All Saints Day also. I just saw your pumpkin. It turned out very nice. We also didn't have many visitors, but we knew we would not get many.
